Mr. Tim Phillips, Headmaster
email: timphillips@rubychristianschool.org
Mr. Tim Phillips heard God's call on his life to become a teacher in the Spring of 1991. He began as a substitute teacher and received his initial certification in Math and Language Arts in 1996 from Mercer Atlanta; in the spring of 2000 he earned his Master's Degree in Middle Grade Education from MUA as well. He also holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science (MUA, '90).
In 1998 he began work in Christian Education and has never turned away from it. He began as Math and Music director for Avondale Pattillo Christian School from 1998-2001. He has since added Social Studies to his certificate and plans to add music before the end of 2012; he has also been a Destination Imagination and girls volleyball coach in recent years. He knows God has richly blessed him in those ventures as he claims 3 State Champs in DI, and a girls NAML Region Championship with his second JV team from King's Ridge.
When he's not working, Tim enjoys writing music and playing video games on his homemade arcade machine. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Sonya and daughter Ruby.
Mrs. Sonya Phillips, Instructor

Mrs. Sonya Phillips changed careers to private Christian education last year after over 10 years of service as an informal educator, animal care technician, and staff supervisor at Zoo Atlanta and Stone Mountain Park. At Stone Mountain Park she developed and presented many hands-on-history and hands-on-animals field trip programs.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern College in biology with an interdisciplinary minor in environmental studies. She attended graduate school for three years at the University of Georgia studying zoology with an emphasis in ecology, immunology, and parasitology.
An important aspect of her life is family -- her husband, Tim Phillips, daughter Ruby, two cats and a ferret bring her much joy. She is active in civic organizations including Habitat for Humanity, and Stride Ahead (therapeutic horseback riding). Outside of professional interests, she has traveled widely, reads, gardens, and knits.
