Ruby's scripture video from this year's A.C.E. Jr. Convention!
I finally had time to also create a link to her website from here; I didn't have time when posting Friday and so I'm "cleaning up" a bit! It's at http://rubyslps.co.nf/.
We've been back at home now for about 30 minutes or so; we made pretty good time what with Atlanta traffic! Dale and Christy, thank you - and Anath Christian - for taking this on and hosting this convention for the last four years. We've been to the last two and they're just getting better and better! Also, thank you to those that have prayed and followed our trip via this website...I had a ton of fun every night posting pics and keeping you updated on how things were going!
Here are a few pics from the award ceremony this morning. It may be several days before I have videos of Ruby's performances up; right now I just want to relax and unwind...but they will make it here eventually, that's for sure!
1st Place Scripture Video -"Bible Times - Samuel and Eli: The True Story"
2nd Place - Poetry Recitation - "Chartless"
I was so excited for her, I forgot Ruby was entered in these two events!
1st Place Science - Engineering - "Stuck Hamster"
1st Place - Social Studies - Research - "The Great Catapults"
1st Place - Website Design - "LPS Collection" - you can see it at http://rubyslps.co.nf/
1st Place - Power Point, Non-Linear - "Poketrivia Game"
3rd Place - Short Story Writing - "The Abandoned Little Number"
All places and medals will be given at the final rally in the morning. I was not sure how they did that when I wrote earlier. I can tell you that Ruby's science and social studies projects both placed in the top 6 - if at all possible I'll post "live results" tomorrow as awards happen!
Here she is in front of her Great Catapults (Angry Birds) social studies and Stuck Hamster (she made a wheelchair for a broken Zhu Zhu Hamster) science projects, plus a few shots of the excellent photo and knitting projects by other scholars! More soon!
We will know sometime after 4 PM how Ruby's science and social studies projects did in competition! I cannot recall but they may do early entry awards later tonight too - soon as we know, and I can find a spot to sit and write, you'll know! ~ Tim
Ruby sang "Do Lord" and recited "Chartless" by Emily Dickinson today, and did very well... she's also made several new friends! Sonya and I have been judging most all day, but we're having fun too - I've heard singing today that will give you glory bumps on top of glory bumps!
New pics up - videos of Ruby competing ASAP! (will fix landscape pics later too - it's very late).
First of all I thank you for your prayers - we've all felt and needed them today with the weather!
The convention actually begins tomorrow after 10 AM, but thought you might enjoy seeing some trip pics, especially some of the out-the-car window scenery pics More tomorrow! ~ Tim
Sonya, Ruby, and I will be in Black Mountain, NC, at the Jr. A.C.E. Convention! We are heading up a day early; registration and the actual convention / competition will not begin until Wednesday morning after 10 AM. We plan to take pictures and video footage daily; if I can get internet access up there - anywhere (we will be smack in the middle of the mountain range) - I will post here as often as I can! Convention is a major highlight of the year and should be a ton of fun; please keep us in prayer as we travel!
